Stephen Gin has been a Bowen practitioner since 1995. He was initially trained in Bowen therapy in Townsville, Australia by Glen Stammers and has undergone subsequent trainings over the years with John Wilks, Louise Tremblay, Elaine and Ossie Rentch.
In 2000, Steve returned to NZ and set up his private practice. He also undertook training in craniosacral therapy, ortho-bionomy and myofascial release techniques.
In 2007–2014 he was employed at Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre with the Refugee As Survivors (RAS) NGO. There, Steve had the opportunity to treat clients alongside psychiatrists and psychologists.
Professional development training at RAS enabled Steve to attend seminars by Professor Bessel Van Der Kolk, a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) specialist. He also trained with Tom Nessar with HeartMath biofeedback units to assist heart coherence levels. Steve also studied trauma release exercises with David Bercelli.
Steve was born in New Zealand and is of Chinese ancestry. In his spare time he enjoys listening to jazz and world music, tramping in the New Zealand bush and is a practitioner of Qi Gong and yoga.
